Patrons rave about the generous portion sizes. Dishes like the fish and chips leave folks feeling satisfied without breaking the bank, typically ranging from £10 to £20. The huge, thick piece of fish emerges crispy yet tender, a highlight for many diners. The spring rolls and homemade savoury cakes are also crowd-pleasers, earning impressive reviews for flavor and freshness.

Service receives major praise too. Many visitors appreciate the friendly and welcoming staff who add to the overall experience. It becomes apparent that a meal at The Village Chippy is more than just the food; it’s about the community and camaraderie. The takeaway options and casual setting fit perfectly into the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing for a quick but enjoyable dining experience.

Most Disliked

Despite its many qualities, The Village Chippy has its downsides. A notable complaint is the cash-only payment policy, which some find inconvenient, especially in the modern age where card and digital payments are common. This decision can throw a wrench in the plans for some diners, prompting trips to the nearest ATM.

Another drawback is parking in W Derby Village, which can be a challenge during peak hours. This affects the efficiency of grabbing a meal, especially with takeout orders. While the community feel is strong, some diners crave more modern amenities in a dining experience, hinting at an eagerness for change in a digital economy.

Can't fault this place. That was a seriously good Singapore rice noodles vermicelli. Staff are super friendly. Highly recommended, especially after an evening around West Derby Village.

The food here is amazing! So tasty and enjoyable! Good prices, big portions and friendly staff make this place easy to recommend. Mask is required. The only downside is cash only. Which is quite disappointing, especially given the current issues. Would have liked to have seen card payments or crypto.

For a treat we decided to give a try. Mine was fish & chips the fish was massive and thick thought it would be mostly batter how wrong was I, fish was pure white a good inch or more thick the best I think I've ever had and chips where plentiful and hot well worth the money and the taxi fare there and back.

Thought that we would try this chippy and it was far superior to our usual chippy. Not a spot of grease on the chips really enjoyable and the fish cake was the best I've had. If you like your chips well worth a shot.

Great new local chippy. The chips are always crispy, hot and fresh. The spam fried in batter is not only unique but also delicious. Would also suggest the bbq ribs, so tender. So far so great.
